Who we are

The Island Job Board is operated from the Isle of Wight, United Kingdom. The data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR is The Island Job Board. Contact us at hello@theislandjobboard.co.uk.

What we collect

  • Candidates: name, email, phone (optional), the message you send with an application, and your CV (PDF).
  • Employers: company name, contact name, email, the contents of your job listings, and payment details processed by Stripe.
  • Everyone: basic technical data (IP address, browser) needed to run the Site safely.

How we use it

  • To operate the Site and connect candidates with employers.
  • To send transactional emails — payment receipts, listing approvals, application notifications.
  • To moderate listings and prevent misuse.
  • To improve the service.

Who sees your data

When you apply for a job, your application (including CV) is shared with that employer. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing. Payments are processed by Stripe under their own terms. Email delivery is handled by Resend.

How we store CVs

CVs are stored privately. Only you, the employer of a role you apply to, and a moderating admin can access your CV. Employer access to a CV is granted only after you apply to their listing.

How long we keep data

Job listings expire 30 days after posting. Applications are retained for 12 months. Account data is retained for as long as your account is active; delete your account by emailing us and we will remove it within 30 days, except where the law requires us to retain it (for example, payment records).

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@theislandjobboard.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies

We use only the cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to run the Site. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and notify registered users by email of any material changes.
